Treasure boxes appropriate for any variant or derivative of Dungeons & Dragons.
Description
I painted cardboard jewelry boxes to look like treasure chests! Perfect for handing out treasure at my gaming table!
Boxes
Bought these at Walmart for just 2 or 3 dollars.
Prime
Used a wide, flat brush to cover the boxes with black acrylic paint. Obviously I painted the lids and bottoms seperately. I only put the lids back on for the picture once everything was dry.
Plank
Used a narrower, flat brush to add dark brown "planks."
Highlight
Dry-brushed the planks with a lighter brown to highlight them.
Tape
Taped the lids and bottoms perpendicular to the planks to add bands.
Band
Chose black, bronze, silver, and gold for the bands so that treasure at my table can escalate from iron-banded to gold-banded chests.
Details
Added nails/rivets to the bands... silver paint on the "iron" band, and black paint on the bronze/silver/gold bands.
Polycrylic
Protected the paint with a layer of glossy polycrylic. Flat would have preserved a more realistic look, but I like glossy.
